Draft Import Health Standard for the importation into New Zealand of Horses from Australia
As part of the consultative process in the development of the import health standard for horses from Australia, the following draft document is available for public consultation:
The major change to the version dated 17 April 2008 is as follows: requirements for equine influenza that included vaccination, testing, pre-export and post-arrival quarantine have been removed in the draft. These conditions will only be finalised after recognition of Australia's freedom from equine influenza following the World Animal Health Organisation (OIE) guidelines.
Submissions on these draft documents should be forwarded to MAF by close of business on Monday 22nd December 2008. Depending on the results of consultation, it is anticipated that the new requirements will be in place by Monday 26th January 2009.
